When you set out to buy yourself an adult mountain bike the first thing you are
likely to do is start looking at the magazines in the store that are dedicated to the sport. This is a good place
to start, however you should remember that the people who write for these magazines are hardcore riders. As such
the bikes that are being reviewed are most likely not entry level machines.
You need to take their opinion on the adult mountain bike with a grain of salt as what they think might be based on someone who is going
to put the bike through its paces on some very demanding trails. If you are just starting out you will most
likely be looking for adult mountain bikes that are aimed more at the beginner level.
While still perfect for riding on the mountain trails entry level bikes are more likely to have
less expensive parts used in their construction such as spring loaded mountain bike suspension parts instead of
hydraulic forks and rear shocks. While having the more expensive ones is nice and if you are a dedicated rider more
of a necessity, they are a bit more than the beginner really needs.

When it comes to the mountain bike accessories
there are lots of different choices to be made. The style you choose is up to you. Choices can be made depending on
how much you want to spend and the type of riding you are planning to do.
The newest style of brakes being used on mountain bikes is disc brakes for several reasons. The
most important reason is that because they use a disk instead of the rim they have far better stopping power under
any conditions.
In the last few years the mountain bike fork has undergone some significant upgrades. They are
no longer the rigid metal forks used in bicycles for the last hundred years or more.
Instead today's adult mountain bike uses shock absorbers much like a motor cycle to help take
the bounce out of the jumps that you will encounter as you ride down the mountain trail.
Making the decision on which of the adult mountain bikes on the market is right for you can be a
challenge, the first step is deciding what style of riding you plan to do and then what your budget is. If your
budget is low there are still plenty of high quality cheap mountain bikes
out there that will more than fill your needs. Once you have tried mountain biking you can always upgrade to a
better bike when you are ready for it.
